Races not to be missed at the end of the year

Autumn races

Are you a running fan wondering what race to do this year? Here are a few races that might be worth a try. There's something for everyone, from 5km to marathons, in many metropolises. If you want to run for a good cause, you'll find what you're looking for 😊 with some charity races.

The race not to be missed in September

It's a classic, with the famous Paris-Versailles race taking place on September 25. It's 16 km long. It runs from the foot of the Eiffel Tower to the Château de Versailles.

Demanding races in October up to the marathon

It needs no introduction, the mythical 20 km de Paris race, my first race in 2018 and one of the toughest because in full sun despite the season it's unforgiving. I thought about giving up, but I managed to go all the way 💪 It will take place on October 9.

The Run in Lyon is one of the capital of Gaul's not-to-be-missed races. Like the Paris half-marathon, this race is organized by Harmonie Mutuelle. It takes place on October 2, and features a 5 km solidarity run, a 10 km run, a half-marathon and the marathon.

You've already grasped the concept of "Run In", a running festival held in some of France's most beautiful cities. Run in Lyon has now been extended to Run in Reims, which takes place on October 16. The program includes a 10 km run, a half-marathon and a marathon.

During the Pink October campaign, several races will be held to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The Odysséa race in Paris, starting at the Château de Vincennes, offers the chance to walk or run between 5 and 10 km. It takes place on October 1 and 2.

On a different note, the Marathon des Grands Crus will take place in Dijon on October 9, with different routes: 10, 21 or 42 km.

If you'd like to run and do something good for the planet, I'm organizing a plogging event in Marseille on Sunday, October 9. Plogging is a concept that allows you to run while collecting garbage. To take part in this race, here's the registration link.

On October 23, come and try out the Rennes Marathon, a green marathon. 1km run = 1 tree planted with the Yves Rocher Foundation.

Charity races in November

The Race of Lights is a charity race whose aim is to light up the night for the sick and highlight this cause in order to fund research. Partners include Institut Curie and Fondation Recherche Alzheimer. The event takes place in Paris on November 19, but there are also opportunities to start the race in many other cities, including Bordeaux and Toulouse on November 26, Lyon on December 3 and Marseille on December 10.

The Cross du Figaro is a race that was created in 1961. Since 2016, part of the registration fee has been donated to the Telethon. It takes place on November 27. You can run for the Telethon with different courses 5, 10, 15 and 20km. For the more courageous, the organization is organizing La Figaro Night, a nocturnal race taking place on November 25.

Running in December

The Issy les Moulineaux Christmas Corrida is a not-to-be-missed event in December in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France. I remember when I was a kid living in Issy les Moulineaux, I used to see thousands of people dressed up as Santa Claus taking part in a race. I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about, that was before I discovered my first races 😉 La Corrida takes place on December 11. It's a short format with a 5 and 10 km course. Children also have the chance to run on shorter courses between 1.5 and 3km.

I'm sure there's a race you'll be interested in this autumn 🏃
