4 tips from a coach before the start of a sports competition
VincentTwo weeks before the start of a sports competition, I spoke with my fitness coach. It was an opportunity to talk about my first marathon that I prepared for several months. I also took the opportunity to do a cardio session. He gave me valuable advice. Some are common sense, others are particularly interesting.
Nutrition
Nutrition is essential when talking about sports competition like the marathon where the notion of performance comes into play. Two weeks before the event, we are not going to reinvent the wheel. Just continue to eat balanced meals, fruits, vegetables, and starches that are suitable for long distances like pasta or rice.
Sleep
Sleep is very important, you need to sleep well. The key is not to arrive tired at the competition especially when you know that sleep is restorative.
Avoid the risk of injury
The number one goal is to avoid the risk of injury during the last training sessions. That’s why it’s essential not to finish the last weeks of training or the last week of preparation with the same level of intensity. During the last week, take the opportunity to get massages and relaxation, two to three massages would be good. This will allow you to arrive in good shape on the day of the competition. It’s better to be in Olympic shape than already rusty from the first kilometers.
You don’t continue to train hard during the last two weeks up to the day before. The hardest part is already done because you already have several months of preparation in your legs.
Positive vibes
Avoid surrounding yourself with toxic people, only positive vibes and good energy to prepare for this competition. If you need to disconnect from social networks because they are a source of bad vibes or criticism, don’t hesitate to disconnect. The support system is very important in the context of a competition; if they believe in you, it will give you confidence.
